Nothing under your Nissan is left unprotected. To maximize ground clearance, we use a front plate that tucks in as close to the frame as possible, providing the best approach angle of any skid plate set on the market. While this skid plate set provides total protection of the engine, drivetrain and gas tank components, it at the same time avoids covering any areas that are unnecessary. This minimizes the size of the low-points that the skid plates create as well as keeps the weight as low as possible. In fact, this entire set weighs 149lbs in 3\/16″ steel or 51lbs in 3\/16″ aluminum, which helps preserve your vehicles payload capacity and fuel economy. This is especially noteworthy when you consider the amount of reinforcements we’ve used in the high impact areas of this skid plate set. We also give you the option to mix and match - should you want steel at the highest impact areas and aluminum in the less critical locations. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style='font-family: Roboto, \"Odoo Unicode Support Noto\", sans-serif;'\u003eStarting at the front edge of the engine skid plate, we mount this plate to our front bumper (optional) \u003cb\u003eand\u003c\/b\u003e main frame rails using 6 mounting points. While this is totally overkill, it ensures impact forces are distributed evenly over your Nissan's frame and gives extra mounting options in case some of your factory mounting points are rusted or otherwise damaged.  Moving to the front bottom edge of the engine skid, this is by far the area that sees the hardest and most frequent impacts on the trail. To account for this, we integrated 6 CNC-bends into this skid and mounted it against a large surface area of the vehicle’s frame. This makes this area of the skid plate nearly indestructible and will distribute those hard trail impacts over as large of a section of the vehicle’s frame as possible. At the rear edge of the engine skid plate, we use 2 more large thru-bolts and a nut plate to mount it to the front differential crossmember.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style='font-family: Roboto, \"Odoo Unicode Support Noto\", sans-serif;'\u003eFor the rear skid plates, we use large vertical ribs that span the length between each frame crossmember. These ribs fit tightly between the frame crossmembers, eliminating any weak points where the skid plate will bend under a hard impact. The fitment and size of these reinforcing ribs makes this skid plate extremely stiff with minimal weight gain over a simple flat skid plate. While the bolt heads on the bottom of this skid plate are exposed, all of these mounting points use long thru-bolts that thread into nuts placed on the topside of each frame crossmember. This means that any damaged bolt heads can still be easily removed via the nuts on top, which are very well protected and out of harms way. We prefer this solution over bolt protection rings welded to the bottom side of the skid plate like some other skid plate sets use. These protection rings increase the size of the low hang-up points and often end up getting smooshed against the bolt heads anyways in the event of hard trail impacts! These sliders mount directly to your Nissan R51 Pathfinder's frame using C-shaped 1\/4\" thick steel mounting plates that wrap around the outer, bottom and inner walls of the truck's main frame rail. We finish these off with heavy gauge square tubing inner legs and the largest reinforcing gussets that we could fit under there.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThese aren't your average round tube sliders. The inner rails and mounting legs are made from 2x2\" heavy wall square tubing and finished with large 1\/4\" thick CNC-cut and bent frame mounting plates and gussets that ensure these sliders will stand up to the harshest abuse you can throw at them. We bend the frame mounting brackets in-house, with each bracket custom tailored to the R51 Pathfinder's frame profile at each mounting point. This allows us to mount these sliders to the truck using all factory holes in the R51 Pathfinder frame. No frame drilling, welding or modification required. Our C-shaped frame mounting brackets wrap around the outer, bottom and inner faces of the frame, and then we run bolts through the outer and inner walls of the frame and into nuts that get secured on the backside. This means that in order for these rock sliders to fail, you would have to simultaneously snap the heads off the bolts and deform the 1\/4\" thick steel brackets enough to lift away from your frame! You can rest assured that these sliders will hold up to whatever trail hits you can throw at them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis mounting design also ensures that those big trail impacts will get spread out over a large area of your truck's frame. Some sliders use skimpy round tubing mounting legs that mount directly to the side of the thin factory frame rails. These can dent the frame rails over time and even punch right through the vehicle's frame under hard hits. With this kit, the provided frame plates spread impact loads evenly over your frame rails. The massive CNC cut gussets bridge the angle between the mounting legs and mounting plates (the highest stress areas in the entire slider) and create super stiff sliders that will not bend or flex excessively under the most extreme conditions! As a nice finishing touch, the ends of the square main rails are tapered at a 45 degree angle to ensure that they will not become battering rams if faced with a rock or stump.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThese sliders come in pieces that are pre-bent and pre-cut. Simply line them up as per the provided assembly directions and diagrams, weld them together, and install them on your truck.  To make it even easier, the kits ship with clear and detailed step by step directions that are accompanied by CAD diagrams. The 6 (3 per side) mounting legs in this kit ship pre-cut with the perfect angles and lengths so the sliders can be positioned at the perfect angle and distance from the vehicle without any guess work or frustrating angle cuts.
